Recycle, Reinvent & Reuse.

Today's post is in memory of my old clock :( and my love for everything in black and white (I mean the print on newspapers, magazines…)

Setting: I was assigned the humongous task of cleaning my room this weekend. Humongous coz my room holds a lot apart from my bed and closet. It is my paradise full of things I like, my prized possessions, bundles of handmade paper, books, magazines, paintings, creations, waste material (which I intend to convert to useful stuff), paints etc etc. While I was executing the task I broke the one and only clock that perched by my bedside for years. What remained were the hands and the machine. I still don’t know how it slipped out of my hands… Apart from resolving the clock issue I also needed to organize the stuff on the space next to my bed. So this is how the need arose for my next small size project (remember i love categorizing things...this one too is small as it took me a few hours.)

The want: To restore my clock and storage for imp papers and my books.

Supplies: Take a look at my think pad…I prefer to put down all the stuff available and ideas on paper and then begin working on it. This I call as “organized thought process”

Outcome: Recycle,Reinvent & Reuse i did :)
I put to use something I had learnt back during my college days. This sure is a good way of reusing newspapers.
- A clock…same soul different body. The only thing I will miss henceforth is the alarm.
- Space centre made out of an empty card board box… didn’t know what to call it unless I say a title I had pasted from the newspaper on it.
- A frame…well this was not part of the plan but I thought it would look good with the other two things. Since I could not find a good picture to put in it, I went ahead and pasted the outcome of my doodle

Final verdict: I feel much organized now.

From DIY to DIM

I am a digger for home improvement and DIY projects.Let it be a show on the idiot box, a post on a blog, websites, magazines or some real life project.
What I love the most is the transition from ‘before’ to ‘after’….in fact I’m restless till I don’t see the ‘after effects’.
From time to time i have implemented a lot of what I’ve seen or read and the feeling my friends is simply awesome…truly sublime.

Today's post From DIY (Do it yourself) to DIM (Did it myself) is one such project.

Setting: My mum decided that we (as in the trio @home- dad, mum and me) must have at least one fruit a day. She went ahead and bought the weekly stock very religiously, but was not happy storing the fruits in plastic bags.
Being a science teacher my mum practices what she preaches and believes that we all can contribute in making this world a better place by avoiding the use of plastic bags. I being her ardent follower believe so too.
So this is how the need arose for my next small size project (well i love categorizing things...this one is small as it took me just 1 day...rather a few hours.)

The want: Something to store fruits…fruit bowl may be.Ways to fulfill the want: Buy it or make it.

The decision: Make it.And make it I did… not one but two :) :)

Requisites: Earthen bowls, paints and some imagination (the only thing that didn‘t have a price tag)

Outcome: Custom made - hand painted bowls. From the color to the design- everything custom made to match our home and my mum’s wish.

Final verdict: Mum loved them so much that she’s gone to get more fruits to fill both the bowls :)

I’d be posting many more such projects by friends and me in the future. So keep watching this space

The Sweetest Things

Creative writing comes naturally to some…
I for sure aint one of them :(

I can best express my views and ideas through the widest used and the most cheapest mode of communication….yapping :D
The second best way for me would be through my paintings and creations.

Fortunately i am surrounded by lovely people who have always been supportive and ever encouraging of my work and talks.
So you may think why have i decided to write??

A question i asked myself everytime someone asked me to have my own blog...thats when mum said..."May be its time to move to the next level and share your thoughts, creations and ideas with the rest of the world."

Here's what i said...…Hello Blogland !!!

Welcome: Anyone and everyone to my The Sweetest Thinz blog--a dedication to all the good things in life….FriEndS, aRt, mUsic,bOOks, plAcEs and how can I forget FooD.
In short anything and everything that leaves a sweet lingering feeling in my heart.
